Carbon Life-cycle Analysis for Hemp

Apply this carbon life-cycle analysis to hemp grain as food replacing high-carbon-impact CAFO meat and the impact is at least 3-times larger.

This study compares the carbon impact of hempcrete to 3 conventional insulations.

But once a wall is built it will never need hemp again, whereas grain as food is already consumed by millions and sold by thousands of retailers daily.

  • Hemp containing breads: Cannabinoid content, profiles, and thermal stability during baking May 15, 2025
The increasing use of hemp in food products raises questions about the stability of cannabinoids during food processing. This study investigated the effects of baking temperature and time on the cannabinoid profile of hemp seed breads and evaluated commercial hemp bakery products for cannabinoid content. Using a validated method, 19 cannabinoids were quantified via liquid […]
  • Evaluation of Biophysical Parameters of the Skin of Patients With Atopic Dermatitis After Application of an Ointment Containing 30% Cannabidiol and 5% Cannabigerol March 24, 2025
CONCLUSION: Our results demonstrate that topical cannabinoid therapy is effective in reducing itching and improving the quality of life of patients with AD, leading to symptom remission in some cases.
  • Influence of different priming treatments on germination potential and seedling establishment of four important hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) cultivars January 24, 2025
Medicinal hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is gaining popularity due to its natural products with potential therapeutic properties, and its cultivation has recently been initiated in developing countries such as Turkey, Iran, India, and Pakistan. The crop is primarily grown using feminized seeds or popular varieties to achieve higher cannabidiol (CBD) yields, with seeds costing approximately […]
  • The development of two fast genotyping assays for the differentiation of hemp from marijuana November 17, 2024
The legalization of hemp cultivation in the United States has raised the need for reliable methods to distinguish between legal hemp and illegal marijuana. Genetic analysis has emerged as a powerful tool, surpassing traditional chemical methods in specific aspects, such as analyzing trace amounts, aged samples, and different parts of the sample. Genetic differences in […]
  • Therapeutic potential of cannabis for surgical wound healing in rats September 19, 2024
This study was conducted to evaluate the wound-healing activities of a Cannabis sativa L. plant extract and cannabidiol on incision wounds. An incision was created and sutured in rats under anaesthesia. Routine wound care procedures were applied for 10 days, followed by histological wound examinations. The cellular bioactivities of the hemp extract and CBD were […]
  • Encapsulation of cannabidiol in hemp seed oleosomes September 14, 2024
Oleosomes are natural lipid droplets that can be extracted intact from oil seeds, forming oil/water emulsions. Their lipid cores, surrounded by a monolayer of phospholipids and proteins, make oleosomes suitable as carriers of hydrophobic bioactive compounds like cannabidiol (CBD). As CBD is crystalline at room temperature, it first has to be liquified to allow better […]
  • Effect of Topical Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) Seed Oil on Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Trial September 10, 2024
CONCLUSION, AND CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Hemp seed oil led to greater improvements in VAS pain score and WOMAC parameters, but not knee flexion range, compared to placebo. There were no differences in measured outcomes comparing hemp seed oil and diclofenac gel.
  • Hemp Seed Oil Inhibits the Adipogenicity of the Differentiation-Induced Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells through Suppressing the Cannabinoid Type 1 (CB1) April 13, 2024
Central and peripheral mechanisms of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) favor energy intake and storage. The ECS, especially cannabidiol (CBD) receptors, controls adipocyte differentiation (hyperplasia) and lipid accumulation (hypertrophy) in adipose tissue. In white adipose tissue, cannabidiol receptor 1 (CB1) stimulation increases lipogenesis and inhibits lipolysis; in brown adipose tissue, it decreases mitochondrial thermogenesis and biogenesis. […]
  • Effect of dressing with different antiseptic agents on reproductive parameters in rats undergoing abdominal incision March 21, 2024
Antiseptic agents used in the postoperative period affect the functions of many tissues in the body, including the testicles. In this study, the effect of dressings administered with different antiseptic agents on testicular functions in rats that underwent abdominal incisions was investigated. A total of 48 Sprague-Dawley rats were used in the study. Each of […]
  • Development and characterization of nanostructured lipid carriers for cannabidiol delivery January 6, 2024
This study evaluated the physicochemical characteristics of nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) as a potential vehicle for cannabidiol (CBD), a lipophilic molecule with great potential to promote health benefits. NLCs were produced using hemp seed oil and fully-hydrogenated soybean oil at different proportions. The emulsifiers evaluated were soybean lecithin (SL), Tween 80 (T80) and a mixture […]
