A Nation Not Of Laws, But Of “Laws”

For decades, citizens used a nontoxic, highly medicinal plant for their well-being. But since that nontoxic, highly medicinal plant was used as medicine for years in Mexico, even in its Pharmacopeia in the 19th C., it became associated with that nation’s people.

And since that nontoxic, highly medicinal plant was popular with social and racial minorities, white America banned it in 1937 using widely accepted racist arguments on the floor of Congress.

That law was ruled unconstitutional in 1969, and the new law was also unconstitutional after it was used by Congress not FDA to declare that this plant, used as medicine for 5,000 years in at least two ancient cultures, had “no medical value.”

Later, most states would have laws contra Schedule 1 for Cannabis, again calling into question its Constitutionality.

Then for decades thereafter, millions of otherwise law-abiding Americans were jailed, even today some are in prison for life, solely for this nontoxic, highly medicinal plant.

Meanwhile, the GOP is silent at the current open wholesale looting of the U.S. Treasury and Americans’ pockets by the Trump Administration and his evil minions.

It appears no law matters anymore if you have an “R” after your name. The world is your oyster: insider trader making billions on death and war is the new 401K if you’re a Republican or just know one. They’re using the U.S. military to create volatility so that Republicans can engage in insider trading.

And yet, people still sit in jail for a nontoxic, highly medicinal plant while this blatant, open financial and political corruption is publicly documented down to the second.

Make it make sense for a proud “nation of laws.”

The same laws those people, mostly men of color, quietly accepted as their fate only to be out-done by Republicans feeling entitled and hell-bent on draining as much money as possible from as many places as possible for as long as possible for as many of their friends as possible, and all while expecting us to ignore it.

No crime is too big to fail for them.

So in the midst of their sacking of the Treasury, we need to accept Schedule 3 for Big Pharma, but demand DEscheduling for us. Accept nothing less.

We’ll never get “our” XXIst Amendment or “our” DSHEA, let alone an apology for criminalizing a nontoxic, highly medicinal plant as FDR’s and Nixon’s pretext to imprison entire races and subcultures.

And industrial hemp still pays the price, even to this day; the biggest obstacle to fully integrating it into domestic agriculture is marijuana laws. Hemp farmers are still required to get background checks and fingerprints, as if they might be criminals. Drug felons are even banned from farming hemp by law, for 10 years.

Yes, the best growers are banned from growing hemp… today that’s called cOnGrEsSiOnAl LoGiC.

The industry was never meant to succeed, only be managed. They leveraged our altruism and idealism against us for fun and profit, but mostly profit like bribes and astronomical fees.

They publicly freed the plant just to privately smother her to death with paperwork and byzantine bureaucratic rules.

Federal and state DEscheduling is the only way out for this nontoxic, highly medicinal plant, anything less is Special Interest legislation designed to help the few at the expense of the many.

Notice who pushes just Rescheduling and figure out why; many have secret investments controlling their public positions.

DEscheduling already passed the House twice a few years ago, stopped by the Senate. Push back.

Demand better, now is the time.

DEschedule or go home.

With what they are doing to the world, everyone will need it to treat their PTSD.
