USDA Hemp Cultivars for Breeding

USDA offers hemp cultivars to breeders. Here’s the list. Click here to search for “Cannabis Sativa.”

They are varieties of low-THC cannabis (“hemp”) for breeders to use, from the feds. One can breed with it (presumably freely, haven’t seen the contract), or likely also propagate it for sale.

But they are not necessarily stable genetics, or even preferable genetics. It’s basically an open-source seed bank of unknown provenance. If I was breeding I would get some of each, grow them out then see what I got and take it from there.

The Italian ones are for fibre. It looks like none are proprietary, basically open sourced or public. Notice there’s no say Finola, or Henola.

But some of the most important varieties today, like Avidekel, came from stuff like this.
