QUANTITATIVE TRAIT LOCUS ASSOCIATED WITH CBGA DOMINANCE IN CANNABIS

The invention relates to methods of identifying a Cannabis spp. plant comprising a quantitative trait locus (QTL) associated with a high CBGA trait, and to Cannabis spp. plants having a high CBGA trait comprising defined allelic states of polymorphisms defining the QTL. Also provided are plants with a high CBGA trait, including a low terpene/cannabinoid trait, identified by the methods described herein. The invention further relates to marker assisted selection and marker assisted breeding methods for obtaining plants having a high CBGA trait, as well as to methods of producing Cannabis spp. plants with the high CBGA trait and plants produced by these methods, based on the allelic state of the QTLs. Further provided are plant extracts having high CBGA levels, and low terpene/cannabinoid levels, obtained from said plants.
